About ‘Magic Eddie’

The Magic Eddie Method combines strength training, assisted stretches using the Magic Eddie Trainer, and self-chiropractic* exercises in a single session ranging from 30-50 minutes.

*Paramhansa Yogananda, in a live speech, implored people to pay attention to their muscles that kept the spine erect and balanced when meditating or doing any form of yoga, calling this type mindful attention, “self-chiropractic”.

The two woman featured in the 18 second video below demonstrate a sample of just one of the techniques of this program, which relieve peoples’ most pervasive physical problems – e.g. low back pain, tight hamstrings, locked up hip neck,  and aches in the shoulders, mid and upper back.

What principles are you seeing demonstrated?

1. Both women effectively ground their feet, which enables each to control and resist the “forward pull” of weight in their hands. In other words, their bodies would get yanked forward unless they grounded their feet the entire time they hold the weight.  Many coaches and programs don’t challenge people to ground against significant force.

• Keep in mind, the second woman featured can’t feel her feet due to diabetes induced neuropathy, yet she keeps her balance and stays grounded! Teaching her to do this and getting her to “trust and feel” energy move through her body increased her confidence greatly, to say the least.

2. Effective grounding of the feet, more importantly creates ‘counter force‘ (think Newton’s 3rd law: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction). This counter force moves out of the ground into the feet and through up through the skeleton. This is the force that stimulates a greater “weight bearing” benefit for maintaining strong bones, stable joints, and moreover, induces a greater ability to control the body in space.

3. The “leaning forward flat position” effectively decompresses the spine safely, while gently stretching and lengthening many muscles “along the line of stretch” – from the sacrum all the way toward the hands.

4. The entire body is used in a patterned and integrated fashion – i.e. each woman demonstrates great skill in feeling and using their entire body as “a kinetic chain”.  There is no need to attain exotic so-called, “advanced positions or asanas” which often fail to provide a therapeutic effect, or even damage ligaments, tendons, or joints.

Anyone at ‘any level’ can learn and do these movements.

The video below features a few of the educational props Watson uses in his workshops and classes.
